How Long Does It Take To Get Your Criminal Justice Degree?

There are a number of things involved in criminal justice. These include arrests, post-conviction issues, investigations, evidence collection and court proceedings. Various levels of education are required to join a career in criminal justice. You will need your high school diploma up to your graduate degree. How long does it take to get your criminal justice degree? It depends on the career you want to take.

1. FBI Agent

If you want to be an FBI agent, you need to earn a bachelor's degree as well as three years of working experience. You can also get a graduate degree and two years working experience. You should also meet the additional criteria such as a college major in computer science, accounting, or electrical engineering. You should also be fluent in a foreign language. All these must be completed before your 18 months training in the academy.

2. Police Officer

In order to become a police officer, you need to take up some college classes. A requirement for federal police positions includes a bachelor's degree. A number of community colleges offer courses of study for two years in order to give students a chance to fulfill their educational requirements for a state pole office position.

3. Lawyer

Lawyers go to school for at least 7 years. That includes the four years undergraduate and three years law proper. At the present time, lawyers are required to take part in continuing legal education following graduation.

4. Corrections Officer

A bachelor's degree is necessary to become a corrections officer. You need to have a high school diploma or a GED, complete a degree and join an on-the-job training.

5. Paralegal

Paralegal require a bachelor's degree in another field or an associate degree in paralegal studies. Your also need to complete a paralegal certification program and undergo training if you do not have a high school diploma.
